English Language Arts
Wood Middle School’s English Language Arts Department focuses on building a reading and writing community by providing an inquiry-based, rigorous curriculum that strives to encourage analytical, creative, and critical thinking. Students have a variety of opportunities to speak and listen to each other during Socratic seminars and other talk routines to deepen learning.
The ELA Department integrates art, social-emotional learning, and culturally responsive teaching within a safe and nurturing environment where students are encouraged to take risks and become agents of change.
